I had ordered 3 pairs of bongos from a popular e-commerce portal and each time I was disappointed with the quality of sound they produced. My point is simple - if they don't sound nice, you wont fall in love with the instrument. And cheap bongos don't sound good! As simple as that. To cut a long story short, I kept looking for a music store that could ship me a quality pair during this lockdown. And then I stumbled on to John's music. Prince took my call. He was super helpful. He recommended the Tycoon Supremo Series over the Ritmo series. I also got a 4% discount with free shipping! I placed the order and he shipped it right away - pronto! I was very happy with the way the the packing was done. The bongos arrived in top shape, complete with the tuning wrench (which is very important to have). The crafting of these bongos is so good - premium looking. Once you tune them, they start sounding super and over a period of time, I found that they start sounding better and better. Just one key piece of advice: these bongos are heavy and holding them between the knees for long periods of time, I found it tiring. Maybe I'll order a bongo stand one day. Till then, I'm sure to enjoy playing them.
