Lauten Audio LA120 V2 Series Black Pair Condenser Microphone - Stereo Pair
This pair of Black Series LA-120 V2 Small-Diaphragm FET Condenser Microphones from Lauten Audio offers a versatile stereo recording solution well suited for use on a wide variety of instruments. The mics feature interchangeable 17mm cardioid and omnidirectional condenser capsules and offer transformerless signal paths with ultra-low-noise JFET amplifiers. Each mic has a low-cut filter with settings for flat, 50 Hz, and 120 Hz to reduce boomy lows or low-end room rumble. Also on each mic is a high-cut filter with settings for flat, 15 kHz, and 10 kHz, to help tame bright rooms and smooth out harsh sources.

The LA-120 V2’s onboard sound-shaping eliminates the need for mic swaps and wasted time. Jump from crisp to smooth to ribbon-like sonics at the flip of a switch. Take the edge off harsh overheads, or warm up a bright piano. Add picking articulation to an acoustic guitar, or perfectly capture a string quartet, all at the flip of a switch.
The signal path is hand-populated with high-resolution, low-distortion polypropylene capacitors and resistors, built around a US-made JFET for articulate, uncolored, and high-impact performance.
Designed and tested in Silicon Valley, California, this V2 version of the microphone offers an improved capsule design that provides better protection in less-than-ideal circumstances.
Custom Omnidirectional & Cardioid Capsules
The hand-tuned 17mm capsules provide transparent, lifelike sound with a musical blend of transient response and natural compression. This makes the LA-120 V2 well suited for use on drum overheads, percussion, acoustic guitar, and piano.
The cardioid capsules will focus each microphone’s attention directly to where it is pointed, reducing the overall sound of a room in a recording. The omnidirectional capsules allow the sound of a room or other off-axis instrumentation to be captured naturally and with uncolored authenticity.
Add optional in-line pads (available separately) to allow the LA-120s dynamic range and depth to be fully utilized on high SPL sound sources like toms, snare drums, and more.
