Heavy Specs and a Light Price! Introducing the Hex Vespera Series!

I have been coming across Guitars of various brands for almost 20 years. And one of the evolution that has been happening is that the modern brands are making the top specs available at a very affordable price. This is something that the bigger brands could never do. A guitarist is always searching for a better or unique tone that he can communicate his music through. So with the modern brands leaping towards offering the best without breaking the bank, the guitarists can now rejoice. 

We have been dealing with HEX guitars over the past couple of years and we have really loved the company's vision and commitment towards offering quality instruments. We had reviewed the HEX F70 and GA70c as one of the best choices in beginner instruments and the GA400ce as one of the best intermediate guitars offering great specs. After the successful run of all these guitars HEX came with the Vespera series that could be the most amazing specs a brand could ever offer. To be honest, offering the top specs was never a challenge unless the price was revealed and it was a pretty big surprise when we found out that this guitar is under Rs. 30000 INR. 

The Vespera Series comes with 3 different models namely VG300e, VG320e and VF300e

VG300e comes as VG300e-BT too, a Black Top Variant however with the similar wood specs that is Solid Spruce and Laminate Sapele back and sides | Grand auditorium Size 

VG320e is a solid Mahogany Top with laminate sapele back and sides | Grand Auditorium Size 

VF300e is similar specs as the VG300e with solid spruce top and laminate sapele back and sides | Orchestra model

So this series covers it for everyone who is looking from a bright sound to a warm sound and from a bigger size to a more compact size. Moving on to the other wood specs, the fretboard and bridge is made up of good quality rosewood and this is something that we have observed even in their entry level range. The quality of rosewood has always been great! This guitar comes pre-loaded with Elixir bronze strings that is supported by high quality tuning pegs. In our years of experience there are very few guitars in this price range that comes default with elixir strings and if you are a guitarist you already know that this is the top rated strings across the world and every guitarist swears by it! For the Elixir strings to sing well it definitely needs a high quality nut and saddle and I am happy that HEX did not compromise on that front. The Vespera series comes with the NUBONE nut and Saddle by Graph-tech ensuring justice to the Elixir strings and other specs. And let me tell you out of experience, these saddles and nuts by Nubone last a really really long time! 

Coming to the most exciting offering: the electronics. The Vespera series comes preloaded with LR Baggs Element VTC. This offering was unbelievable as it was never done before by any brand under Rs. 30000 in India. This pickup is used on many high end guitars as it's the least invasive pickup with only the output jack passing through the guitars body. The tone of this pickup is absolutely great for studio as well as live and if you have been playing guitars since couple of years, you probably already know about it! 

The last offering that is a cherry on top is the amazing gig bag offered by HEX. When a brand is committed to innovations with the customer satisfaction in mind, the results can be lovely. This heavy duty Gig bag alone is something that can cost about 5000 to 6000 Indian Rupees. And that is coming included in this overall package. In fact we get enquiries from several customers if the gig bag is separately available for purchase, and I hope we can say YES to them very soon. 

That was all the PROS about the Vespera series and like all models, this one has its CONS too. The LR baggs pickup is designed to have a battery pack inside the guitar, so it becomes super essential that you use Duracell batteries. This is because for changing the battery, you have to loosen up the strings and insert your hands into the sound hole and change the battery which you really do not want to do during a stage show. So as long as you change batteries every time you change strings, this should not be a problem. If you find this inconvenient you can get a battery box installed on the sides and this can be done before we dispatch the instrument to you. The second negative is the colours available. Currently this guitar comes only in a natural and black option which is traditionally great colours but if you are into something more eye catching, you might not be happy with this one. 

Other than these negatives, we really wish that the Vespera series came in a travel size too and that would be an absolute great guitar to move around with (we hope you are listening HEX!) This brand from Korea is making some major revolutions in the guitar industry and we are here to bring more of it to you. With top specs, great craftsmanship and being made in Indonesia, Hex Vespera series has become one of the most recommended guitars from us to the beginner and intermediate guitarists seeking the best!
